Hello, and thank you for reading this. I am becoming a deathwife, an assistant in the processes of transition and a grief support, and would like ask your help in this journey. The next step in my process is a four course certification class in Los Angeles.
I have decided, after three years of deliberations, prayer and meditation, to pursue the next level of education and formal initiation into death midwifery. I have researched many wonderful teachers and have found my connection with Olivia Bareham of Sacred Crossings. I will be attending all four of her intensive and comprehensive certification programs this year, culminating in my enriched education and certification that will assist my family in our dream of opening a sacred birth and death midwifery space.
Some of you have known me most or all of my life, and that means you have known many expressions of who I am. You know that I have explored many paths, from punk rock to poetry, painting to wilderness living. I have gathered sacred circles in ceremony, as well as closed the bar with you on a Tuesday singing Billy Joel. No matter what it was, I did it with every part of my being, and I did it for the love and experience of life.
I have, like so many of us, experienced death a thousand ways in that time. From the loss of loved ones I have learned to hold the living as fiercely or as gently as I can. I have said goodbye to many, and have held the hands of some of the most amazing people who were on their journey. I have also seen people traumatized and left broken by death, and who seemed to have very few who could understand how to help hold them through this pain.
We have, in many ways, lost touch with the ceremonies and rituals of grieving in our modern world. Without full focus on transmuting the trauma, grief can become burden; but with a guiding and experienced hand, it can become a wonderful expression of a love so much deeper than we ever knew. Helping to find that wholeness has been a draw I have felt for a very long time. I have found it to be in those moments of transition where I feel secure and at peace, and have been able to offer silent support or a voice where silence must be broken.
I am seeking financial help to achieve this. The $3,000 raised will help me to achieve this goal. After receiving this education I will better be able to assist those in transition and their families to move through death with a little more ease and comfort. From helping with legal paperwork, having ceremony and ritual, to holding a natural burial, I will have the tools to help you and our loved ones through this amazing process.
I need to sign up for these classes as soon as possible so as to secure my space. The classes tend to fill up each year, so time is short to achieve this goal. Please consider helping me to do this.
