Deathproof CF; Rise from the Ashes

Donation protected
On Wednesday, January 24th fire broke out in the building that houses Deathproof Crossfit. There was a lunchtime express workout going on at the time and while my friends were slinging heavy weights overhead Jase Robinson (owner of Deathproof) alerted everyone that there was a fire and to get out! He and Audra (Dree) McNear got everyone safely outside (including their dogs Fran and Charlie) and 911 was called. Everyone in the adjoining offices of Carpet Mania and Advantage One were able to evacuate as well. Within minutes the whole building was engulfed.  For the next several hours firefighters from all over battled to control the fire, but the building was completely destroyed. Their kids Layla and Keller had their laptops, clothing, bikes and other personal items inside at the time of the fire. Since Jase and Dree work 16 hour days, they've lost so many of their personal items as well.

There are hundreds of athletes who walk through their doors, wanting fitness and better, healthier lives. They coach high school students and folks well into their 80's and 90's. There aren't just crossfit athletes who attend Deathproof Crossfit, they also teach Rock Steady Boxing. This is a program which gives people with Parkinson's Disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact, boxing based fitness curriculum (rocksteadyboxing.org).

Currently Deathproof Crossfit is competing in a national competition, the Lurong 2018 Resolution Challenge, and we hold the #1 position in the country! Thanks to the outpouring of support of other crossfit gyms, our team will still be able to compete and you can be sure that our drive to win has only increased!

These folks are like family to their athletes and community. This fire may have destroyed the building and all contents but the spirit of Deathproof Crossfit is strong and we will be back, better than ever! Please give what you can to help get the gym back on its feet ASAP!
