Hi everyone!
Our names are Emmeline Penn and Emma Pfeiffer. We are current juniors at Mercer Island High School and have always loved working with children. We have had the opportunity to work with the students at Dearborn Park International Elementary School for the past couple of years and have loved every second of it. Through our time tutoring, mentoring, and playing with these kids we have been lucky enough to see them grow as both people and learners.
Dearborn Park International Elementary School strives to provide a solid foundation for every child's education in a safe, nurturing environment, with high expectations. This elementary school currently receives around $6,000 of PTA funding annually. To give you a perspective of their need, Mercer Island High School currently receives around $200,000 of PTA funding. We have decided to help fundraise for these students in order to give them the optimal educational experience. All funds raised will go towards implementing an after school care program for students not able to go home right after school ends. This entails funding for staff, computer software, and overall supplies to aid their experience.
We hope you all will help us reach our goal of providing these students in need with the after school care program necessary for their success. As students, we understand how significant the implementation of this program would be in the lives of the students and the school itself. We value an exciting and safe learning community, and hope that we are able to give this to the children that we have gotten to know well over the past couple of years.
