Go drum me

Dear Family, Friends and Musician Friends,
I want to help someone I think is very deserving of some support. My best friend and husband played drums professionally for over 20 years, including numerous recordings, videos and touring throughout those years of his career. On December 29th, 2010, his life, as well as mine and our daughter’s, changed in an instant. While on his way back to his car on a morning hike, he was fired upon by an unknown crazy person. He was struck in the right leg. (Nobody was caught, but police suggested he may have gotten too close to a hidden meth lab.) By the grace of God, another hiker happened upon Tommie, passed out next to his car due to loss of blood. This good samaritan drove Tommie to the hospital. The bullet entered toward the top of his right leg (his bass drum leg), ricocheted off his femur, tore through muscle until it lodged in his knee. After several surgeries and loads of physical therapy (which continues to this day), Tommie had to relearn how to walk again. With the immense hospital bills, and loss of his career, Tommie was forced to sell all of his drums, cymbals and equipment that he had acquired over the years in order to pay the bills and help keep our family afloat. It was a tragic turn of events for him and our little family. Cut to a short while ago, with some encouragement from friends and family, Tommie was able to get his hands on a little loaner electric drum kit, just to see if he could work it still. That really wet his whistle to get back into music. Unfortunately, times are still tough and it’s been hard to catch up for the lost time. So, I wanted to start this Go-Fund-Me to get him to a starting point to where he could actually do something with his drumming talent once again. The $4,000 goal will not get him anywhere near to what he once had. But, it will be enough to get him some mid-level, yet decent equipment that he can work with and boost him to possibly playing in music professionally once again, or at the very least, bring some of that joy that only playing music can bring into a musician’s life. Thank you for any small support or just forwarding this on to whomever you can.

Most Sincerely,
