The Big Hike - The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

On 22nd October, the team (and anyone who wants to support us) will be taking part in The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

The route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent - in ONE DAY!

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge  takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This massive challenge is to raise awareness of the impact of Type 1 Diabetes on a child and their family. If you would like to join us on this challenge, contact Lee at: lee@heal-med.co.uk.

We will be staying over the night before on the 21st and also on the 23rd after the walk, with a well-deserved meal and drinks.

We would love your donations

Simply use the 'Donate Now' button and optionally, select the team member you wish to sponsor. We really do appreciate all that you can give and thank you so, so much in advance!

A Social Enterprise for The Diabetes Community

We are raising money for HEAL.med CIC. An amazing, not-for-profit social enterprise that was created to help children and young people with Type-1 Diabetes. HEAL.med is the team behind Deapp Education (Pronounced “deep”), a resource that empowers children and their families through high-quality videos, resources, and training via our app and through face-to-face learning.

Why do we need support?

HEAL.med CIC was set up to make sure Deapp continues to be available for children and their families. As a not-for-profit we ensure that we are here to serve our community above all else. For us to make this happen we have to incur many costs that go towards keeping the education up-to-date, the app up-to-date, and general running costs.

Our Aims:

- To translate the education into more languages to ensure it is accessible to as many people as possible.
- To develop new videos and content to expand the information on this complex medical topic.
- To create more resources that healthcare professionals can use to teach children and their families, ensures they go home from the hospital with as much knowledge as possible.
- To continue to update and develop the app which hosts all of the videos for patients, to enable it to be used on devices when software advances.

Leicester Hospitals Charity

We are supported by the Leicester Hospitals Charity and will also receive a part of your donation to support our local NHS hospitals. We work closely with this charity and want to reward them too for their hard work! This means we will ensure that your donation is split between both organisations.
