My name is Sherry Hale, and I am a first cousin to Deana Lownsberry, a very sweet woman who was the flower girl at my wedding 26 years ago. The sweetest and most loving girl always had a positive spirit no matter what would happen in life. In 1999, my father (her favorite uncle Rodney) left us due to lung cancer at the age of 51 devastating the family. Shortly thereafter our grandfather passed from heart disease. Next Deana's father (my favorite uncle Doug), had a heart attack on the couch in the home and was found by Deana. So needless to say, these tragedies, left both us girls without our fathers, and our grandfather at pretty young ages.
In around 2010, our grandmother had an accident and had fallen outside her front porch. She had been laying there for 2 days bleeding from her head before being found. Once treated, she was found to have needed 6 months of rehabilitation to get back to a potential independent life. With her pride strong (and never to rely on anyone), our grandmother decided that she wished to be with her 2 grown sons, grandfather, and her 2 still born baby boys, (total of 5 males dead), so she starved herself at the hospice house.
This left Deana and myself with no immediate local blood relatives except for our children and husbands, and during this, I was already relocating to Buffalo for my husbands work and Deana and I had sadly become separated by states. We had one uncle and one aunt who both lived very far away.
And Deanas real tragedy begins: A few years later, Deana was in a terrible vehicle accident that would leave her now as a parapalegic for the rest of her life, while she raised her small children. Due to the strong woman she is, she was determined and was able to get pregnant and give birth to a very healthy baby. Her determination, spirit and drive is miraculous.
Now just most recently, her husband Jon has suffered a terrible motorcycle accident that will put him paralyzed in one leg.
With both parents now unable to work, and unable to claim support until the paperwork has gone through the “system” this family is in dire need of support for handicap aids, medical bills, household needs and the care of the children.
Dispite this family does not have much and live very simple lives, they are happy joyful people that spread love to everyone. I hope and pray that you can help me in joining to raise money to keep this family a float as I know they have the strength to do so.
We are looking for immediate funding to make sure the house has the proper handicap accessible needs for a multi handicaped household and that the children are cared for during this tragedy.
