Serving our First Responders

Dean is a first responder for our first responders - a caring, compassionate presence for the emergency crews that serve us.   

He has been trained as a chaplain to ministry to the people who are the first on the scene of a tragedy.  The devastating circumstances take a toll on these public servants and their families.  Dean feels called to walk along side them as they work through the trauma that  accompanies their job.

But the moment, Dean and his family are facing their own crisis. 

He and Mindy and  their four children live in Corvallis, Oregon. In the past two years, they have had four major medical emergencies- Mindy, with an infection that required emergency treatment, Dean with gastroenterology issues, and Sam with a bowel blockage.  Dani has needed vision therapy and glasses.

Even though they have insurance, the deductibles and co-pays have amounted to $13,000. They have applied for different financial assistance programs for medical bills, but have not been accepted. Dean works as a property manager which funds the chaplaincy ministry and they have used up their savings on the ministry. At this time, he is still building his ministry team, so their budgets for both family and ministry are more than tight.

 I am so thankful for the men and women who serve us in our times of crisis.  My own father served as chaplain to several law enforcement agencies and I know firsthand the profound impact of this vital ministry.
