Tokyo Deaflympics 2025 Fundraiser

Hello all,

My name is Henry Hughes DLY, a bit about me is that I am a Deaflympian who previously represented Australia on three occasions and in my last competition at the 2023 World Deaf Swimming Championships, I was the Australian Deaf Swimming Team Captain where I personally won two bronze medals in the relays.

But an opportunity arose for me to make my dream move to the UK where I am delighted to say that I have been selected to represent Great Britain through DeaflympicsGB, Great Britain Deaf Swimming Club, UK Deaf Sport and Loughborough University at the 2025 Tokyo Deaflympics in November this year.

However, I need your help as the Deaflympics are not funded by DCMS and the Government, which means elite Deaf swimmers like me do not get a pound of public money to support my career. I need to raise £1400 by the 21st of March for accommodation, I know this is short notice, but this is the reality of the Deaflympics, this is the first target, before raising the whole amount of £3500 over the next few months. UPDATE: Due to a two grants won of a total of £800, the fundraising amount has been reduced to reflect the grants kindly given.

So I would really appreciate whatever you can afford to chip in to support me in Tokyo, especially over the next few weeks which is crucial to my participation in Tokyo.

Hope you all have a lovely day and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
