Farmer family

I haven’t been posting too much about what’s been going on with my Dad and now my Mom because every time I speak or write it, I get choked up... but now that my family is in need, I’d figure I’d try to tell our story.

My dad underwent major heart surgery less than a month ago. They told us prior to that, that he had maybe 6 months to a year to live. He wasn’t ready to leave us and decided that he wanted to fight. So, we all as a family researched other options and decided that a mechanical pump as a bridge to a new heart for him was our best bet. Pops was scared to death but he did it anyway. He fought for all of us and was doing okay for a few days... then Mom started showing some signs that she was sick. I was thinking “Lord what could it be now”. My little sister took her the ER and after all the tests, cat scans and x-rays, we were told she has cancer in her uterus that has spread.. My poor Mom has been working everyday then going straight to UCSF to be with our dad then coming home and hitting repeat for months all while she was sick and not knowing

Dad has been on SSI for over a year & Mom has been working her ass off to pay the bills. She now has to go out on disability herself to try and fight this battle. On top of the bills, Dad needs at-least $10,000 before he can get his new heart and money is already so tight.

They are both fighters and will fight this health war but need some help financially in the meantime.

My parents have never asked anyone for anything ever, until now. If anything they have helped everyone. They raised other people’s kids even though they really couldn’t afford to. They have gave and gave and would never take anything from anyone in return. They would never ask unless it was desperately needed.

My husband and I have had a rough year. He has been in and out of the hospital every other week. He has gone through open heart surgery to have an LVAD implanted. He is on the heart transplant list. If we get a call that Mike is getting a heart we will have to live in San Francisco for a minimum of 6 weeks after surgery. All the while maintain our household in Rodeo. This 6 weeks will cost us a minimum of $10,000 just for the space. 

Just this past Tuesday I hear that I have Metistatic Uterine Cancer. I have an 8 cm mass in my uterus, my lungs, adrenal glands and lymph nodes all have cancer cells. Since Mike has been sick he has been on SSDI which isn’t much, I have been the main wage earner. Now that I’m off work, we have mounting medical bills. My medical issues has just started. We are afraid we will lose our house. Anything will be appreciated
