Holistic Chef School Dreams

Hello friends!

I started my own business, Sow Good Bakery, about two years ago. I have been making sweet treats that are also gluten free, refined sugar free, sometimes vegan, sometimes raw, and sometimes paleo-friendly. My passions have always been spreading smiles and happiness and encouraging awareness and mindfulness. I began this quest with the desire to make people feel good and happy and well, and as baking and creating and experimenting was a natural hobby, I sought to integrate the two.

(Integrating mind, body, and spirit from a young age)

I have been grateful to have been a vendor at the Saugerties farmers’ market in upstate New York for a fall/winter and summer season as well as a vendor at Northeastern University's market in Boston, MA. I’ve received really great feedback about my creations and people have been so receptive to my heart-on-a-plate. I have heard great/intriguing/concerning/worthwhile stories from people who have had or have known friends and loved ones with food intolerances and sensitivities that they have struggled with. I have felt blessed to participate in this sharing and to be able to offer treats that make them (feel) healthy without any worry.

I have always been intrigued by holistic nutrition, beginning largely because of my own struggles and intolerances, and have read books as if there were suspense at the end of every page and have delved into the internet in order to learn more and to expand my ability to help myself and others reach their optimum health. I’m seeking your help because I’ve begun to intensely crave knowledge a bit beyond asking jeeves and what I can conclude my own personal experiences. I would love to be in an environment where I can deeply study health and wellness with people who share similar passions. It would be an intensive and enriching experience that would advance me personally and professionally and would allow me to fully satisfy my yearning and progress me on the path of my life’s work.

Bauman College is a holistic nutrition and culinary arts school in Boulder, Colorado that “aims to create a sustainable culture of wellness in individuals, in the community, and in our health care delivery system by promoting a comprehensive and integrative approach to holistic nutrition and the culinary arts.” They are “committed to bringing an Eating for Health model to an ever wider audience, advocating the use of whole organic food, nutritive herbs, and appropriate supplementation to promote health, restore metabolic balance, and support recovery from injury or illness.” Their “philosophy aims to change the way people consume food from convenience to conscious eating.” How amazing!

There are two programs offered at this school- nutrition consultant and natural chef. I have decided upon the natural chef training program. I have always been a hands on person. I like to touch things and to feel things and to do things. Love often pours out of my finger tips. By being able to chop, and slice, and dice, and stir, and fold, and bake and cook each day, I will be fulfilled. I will be giving and receiving, learning and teaching, living and growing.

Any contribution you can make, however small it may seem, would be appreciated and valued beyond the total sum. This is the contribution that I would like to give to the world. I need your help to turn my dreams into reality and sickness into health and holistic wisdom and insights into luscious and decadent cookies. Because who wouldn’t want to eat two raw truffles a day, made with love by a holistic natural chef, to fight depression, chronic fatigue, eczema, arthritis, or a disbelief in the power of “health foods”?

Thank you ALL.
Bucketfuls of goodness,
Tess
