The Beautiful faces of Africa

As many of you know I've returned to Arusha, Tanzania to continue my volunteer work at a local school, Destiny Orphanage. While volunteering here in Africa I've experienced some incredible things and am in contact with the most joyful and inspiring children. It is without saying that the majority of these children are very poor with no more than the clothes they are wearing, a single pair of shoes and receive very little food. In saying this, on returning to Africa I have unfortunately been confronted with a devastating situation.

28 children at our school are currently all staying in one house where they are all living off the bare minimum. A number of them come to school and sleep on the ground due to their being no space/bedding at their house for them to go. With 28 children in one house they are poorly fed with just a cup of porridge in the morning and then whatever meal they receive at school. They have come from all over Tanzania and are without parents, some abandoned by their family. It's truly heartbreaking to witness. It is a struggle to get some of these children to smile or talk because of what they went through.

In saying this, I'm hoping to raise enough money so I can purchase beds for them to sleep in and food for them to eat. A teacher at our school would like to take in 5 of the children on his own as well to reduce the amount in the other house but again beds and food are the issue. With the money I raise I will be purchasing these items hopefully within the next few days since I have only a week left here.
