This man is a Father & a Poppa to 11 Grandchildren.
At 63 years of age, Tony was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. After further research they found he has 5 vertebrae crushed in his spine, his doctors & specialist then told him that after a six hour, $25,000.00 (estimated quote valid for 3 months) surgery he would recover within two years. With recent visits and more test, asking the doctors for help with the pain they have now told him that injuries are too far ahead, and having the surgery may not make any difference in recovery.
Now this is no ordinary man, he has many tallents,(one of them is building awesome hot rods) he's hard working, caring, kind hearted, loving, genuine, down to earth man who has lost control in his arms and slowly moving to his legs. His muscles are also slowly deteriorating. He is finding it hard to do everyday things like getting out of bed, putting a shirt on, and doing up buttons and zippers. Everything that we take for granted everyday, our father, poppa can no longer do.
We can not receive any government help here in Australia as we are from New Zealand, and going home is not really an option with the weather being so cold, dad will be a more pain than what he already is in and suffer a lot longer, we are stuck in a sticky situation and are trying our very best to help dad In any way we can, as he has helped us all our lives
