I started this fund in honor of a sweet baby girl named Charlotte Mae Blankenburg. She is currently 13 months old and was diagnosed with Stage 4 Wilms Tumor at 12 months old. Her mom and I have been friends for over 25 yrs. It pains me to the core to hear and see her daughter and family going thru all the stress that childhood cancer may bring.
My goal in this fund is to raise awareness to others and to assist by donating money to her family. Money is something we can always get more of. Money cant end Charlee's cancer, but it can help with all the financial aspects. It can help with hospital bills, gas or food, etc. With all the worry and pain that these children go through, why should money be an issue.
I trust and know that Charlee's parents will appreciate every penny and put to good use your donation. If there is no need for the money, they will donate towards research facilities to hopefully END childhood cancer once and for all.
A little info.......
Charlee's pediatrician found a lump in her belly at her normal 12 month check-up. 2 days later she was having surgery to remove her right kidney and a mass that was diagnosed as Wilms tumor (cancer). She is stage 4 as it has spread to her lungs. Charlee had a 5 night hospital stay and shortly after started her 7 days of radiation, where she had to be sedated each morning in order to receive that treatment. She has also gotten 3 chemotherapy treatments so far. If her health and blood counts stay in a normal range, she should be finished with chemo in mid-January. She will have to get scans periodically during treatment and then for weeks, months and then years following her final treatment.
Prayer is such a powerful tool we can use at any time of the day.
Let's keep praying for Charlee and her family and help them along the way!
