Those of you who already know our mother, Joyce Elmore, know about the ongoing medical issues she's been experiencing over the past two and a half years. She's experienced multiple surgeries, and is facing at least two more in the next year.
The reason for this post is because she's been in a wheelchair almost the entire time, and getting her in and out of a regular car has been extremely difficult/painful, and many times (like now!) impossible. We're having to use professional medical transportation for something as simple as a 15 minute ride to the doctor - and if we had a van, we could simply DO it. Having a wheelchair van would assist us in providing care for her, as it's very challenging to schedule medical transports - and it would ALSO allow her to more fully participate in life. While she's currently in a care home, she's expected to come home after her next surgery (scheduled for early September), and having a wheelchair van would mean that instead of being housebound, she could go to the grocery store with my father, visit family, or take a drive to the shore and "walk" along the beach with friends.

The catch - a wheelchair van costs between $40,000-$50,000. We don't have that. Even with insurance, my parents are already facing over $100,000 in medical bills. Pulling together, we could probably cover $20,000, which is why we're asking for assistance with the rest.
