"Go ahead, make my day!" he says with a wink and a smile.

Robert Davenport isn't your ordinary Veteran. Born on the 4th of July, he epitomizes what our great nation once stood for. In our book, he's Captain America! He served his country from 1951 - 1955 in the Korean War and continued to serve his countrymen for over 50 years through his community service with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), as the neighborhood Santa Clause for all the grandchildren and seniors in his community, and without fail, he would celebrate Veterans day and Independence day along with his beloved wife, Jeannie. After Bob left the military, he earned his keep and lived a modest and humble life as a gas company employee. Always giving, always serving, always loving.

On Monday, August 18th, 2014, his beloved and our "adopted" mother Jeannie unexpectedly passed. Our loss is heaven's gain, may she rest in peace. Jeannie neglected her own health caring for Bob due to his failing kidneys and multiple bypass surgeries. It was determined that she passed away from a heart attack.

Now within less than 6 days of his wife's passing, Bob is facing the reality of having to lose his home and the life he and his wife built together. Never having any of their own children, they dedicated their lives to helping others in the mobile estate senior community where they live. Bob has barely begun to accept his wife's passing but now is staying in a boarding home as he is unable to afford 24/7 home care (which Jeannie provided) and continue to pay his lease.

As his "adopted" children, we are asking for help on behalf of Bob. In case you are wondering, my husband and I met the Davenports at Valley View Casino several years ago and since then have been like family. We adopted them and they adopted us. :) Will you please share this page with as many people you know in order to raise support for Bob so that he can give his beautiful Jeannie a proper celebration of life ceremony and to contribute to bringing Bob home while still receiving the 24/7 care he needs?
Our greatest wish is just to allow Bob to take the time he needs to mourn her loss in the home where they spent the last 14 years  of their lives together.

Humbly yours, Julia & Chris Kim
