Support Jack's Battle Against Leukemia

Donation protected
We are raising funds for Jack who was diagnosed on September 3rd with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Jack's mom brought him into the ER at Christ Hospital on September 1st after consulting their pediatrician. Jack had multiple bruises on his legs as well as a very pale complexion. After routine testing, it was quickly realized there was something more to the story about what was happening with Jack. That night they were told he would need a blood transfusion, and they were being admitted to the hospital based on the Hemonc team's recommendation. Little did they know that this was going to be the beginning of a 10-day hospital stay. Several doctors examined him, and the tests had begun. On September 3rd they received the official diagnosis of B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (aka B-ALL), and he would have his first surgery for Port placement and his first Chemo treatment on Sept. 5th.

As if their world wasn't turned completely upside down from this, Jack's dad, Matt, was currently serving with the Army National Guard overseas on a deployment during this time. Jack's mom, Katie, worked with the American Red Cross to quickly get Matt home to be with Jack during this traumatic time. It took almost a week, but he successfully arrived home to be with the family.

They also have three other children, Ben (7), Mac (6), and Genevieve (4) who need to resume life as normal as it can remain.

Jack's entire treatment plan will last between 2.5 to 3 years. This will greatly affect Jack. He will be completely out of school for the first 30 days. No ifs ands or buts. For months 2-9 we will have to determine based on his test results post 30 day treatment. He may or may not return to school at all until 5th grade missing his entire 4th grade year of school. This was the most devasting news to Jack. He loves his school, his classmates, and most of all he was REALLY looking forward to being with Mrs. Wendt. This is a moving target and can very well change as time goes on.

B-ALL is the most common Leukemia found and with some test results so far, it sounds like we caught it very early. His treatment plan as of right now is also all Chemo. There's no discussion so far of radiation, bone marrow transplant or stem cell transplant. Since it will only be chemo, Jack will live a completely normal life post treatment plan. He will still be able to have babies of his own, his hair will grow back, and he will have a really cool story to tell all of his grandchildren.

It will be a really shitty first 9 months. The Carlson's are now asking for help when they generally are the ones who help out. There are so many people that want to help so let's do this.

They don't have to do this alone. They don't want to do this alone. Please help me gather around Jack and their family and give him all the prayers and well wishes.
