Envy's Fight Against Parvo

Donation protected

Envy is a 14 week old border collie puppy who is currently fighting for her life at a 24 hour emergency animal hospital. After a frighteningly rapid decline in her health, she was rushed to the hospital at 1pm on Wednesday, August 20th.

The vet confirmed that Envy has Parvovirus, a deadly viral disease that attacks the intestinal tract, white blood cells, and eventually the heart and causes horrendous pain and suffering for the infected dog. He said that she is suffering badly from it, but it isn't too late. With at-home treatment, her chance of survival is only 50%. But he said that they are well equipped to treat Parvo, as the hospital has staff present 24/7 and she will receive around-the clock care. With hospitalization, her chance of survival is nearly 80%.

Obviously, I am not going to take any chances. Her treatment is going to cost at least $1200 per day, but this girl is worth the financial struggle. Envy's breeder has been extremely concerned and completely supportive from the moment she knew something was wrong. She has offered to help cover the vet bills and support Envy and I in any way we need.

It is hard to say where she got it from, but it is likely that she picked it up either when she went to be microchipped or on the long ride home from Arkansas.

Please, please pray hard for my little girl. I cannot lose her, this little punk is supposed to be my partner in crime. I need her to take over the world with me.

UPDATE:
Thursday 8/21 9:30 AM

The doctors called me this morning with an update (as well as several phone calls that I made to them throughout the night last night). Envy has shown some minor improvements but has mostly remained in the same condition since I rushed her to the hospital at 1pm yesterday afternoon. Her vomiting has ceased and has become occasional urping and burping. She is still experiencing frequent moderate quantities of bloody diarrhea and an anti-diarrheal medication has been administered via IV since last night. She has been very depressed and lethargic and is most certainly experiencing a lot of discomfort and pain, even though she is receiving continual pain medication via IV. The doctor said that she is drinking water frequently (along with receiving IV fluids) and is urinating regularly so she is remaining hydrated. However, she refuses all offers for food. The doctor has expressed her concern for malnutrition and suggested a nasoesophagial feeding tube. Unfortunately, it looks like Envy could be spending upwards of a week at the hospital unless her condition changes drastically for the better. I will do whatever it takes to help my little punk'in get better.

Please keep Envy's brother Ruger as well as my other border collie, Clarity, in your thoughts, as both of them have been exposed. All of your prayers, positive thoughts, support, and donations are appreciated more than you know.

All donations that are made with be put directly towards the cost of Envy's hospitalization and intensive around-the-clock care. I have decided that if the donations exceed the amount of money needed to cover the cost of her care, the rest of the donations will be further donated to support the care of other local dogs who are also suffering from Parvovirus.
