The nonPareil Institute, Leader of Autism Solutions, Is Expanding To Houston, TX

NonPareil Institute, a recognized leader and innovator in providing practical, long-term and sustainable solutions for adults with autism, is expanding to Houston.

NonPareil (nP) CEO, Dan Selec, and President, Gary W. Moore, is working with a Houston Expansion Team to open a site in Houston. nonPareil’s mission is to provide training, employment and housing to adults who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the prevalence of autism continues to grow, with 1 in 68 children now being diagnosed. There are an estimated 1 million adults affected with ASD in the U.S., and approximately 90% are either unemployed or under-employed. Each year, over 50,000 individuals with autism will graduate from high school in the U.S., and face a very uncertain future.

NonPareil Institute is on a mission to provide answers to this crisis by expanding their program across the U.S., and potentially worldwide. Their solution is unique in that it addresses an individual’s lifetime needs through skills training, employment and future campus housing in addition to conducting research in collaboration with universities and researchers across the country.

NonPareil opened their first training center on the campus of SMU-in-Plano, TX with eight students September 2010, and has grown to 140 students, with over 1,000 now on the waiting list. Their technical training provides the skills to work on teams and create mobile apps, games and eBooks for market release. Many individuals with ASD enjoy and excel in technology, including video games, the computer and other interactive media.
