Arianalys Surviving MoyaMoya

Donation protected
My daughter Arianalys Maraiyah GonGon now age 18, has been a TRUE FIGHTER/SURVIVOR since day one. Born at only 25weeks, weighing 1pound/8oz's & 13inches long she has fought to survive. As a baby she suffered a bleed in the brain & at only 3days old she underwent heart surgery. Due to the the bleed in the brain she grew up with (R) side weakness going through intense therapy & wearing an AFO on her (R) leg to give her extra support. But Arianalys was un-stoppable. By age 11 she had earned 4belts in Karate, participated in all sports at school, played Basketball for our City of Brockton & that same year she participated in the Special Olympics & won a Gold Medal for the 50yard-dash & a Silver Medal for the long jump, she was also very artistic. Unfortunately in the blink of an eye her life changed immensely. May of 2010, Arianalys was diagnosed with a rare disease known as MoyaMoya & on June 22, 2010 she underwent 8hours of brain surgery. As the happy child that she had always been, she would tell me right before going in for surgery, "not to worry because she wasn't scared & knew that she would be just fine!" Indeed she was for the first couple of hours after surgery. Sadly mid morning on June 23rd, 2010, Arianalys suffered a major stroke leaving her unable to talk, walk or have the use of her hands. Arianalys spent 4months as an inpatient at Spaulding Rehab, Boston, MA & was making great progress but once we came home, again things changed. The insurance would only allow her to have so many visits for Therapy & once she would get discharged, she would fall back. Although it has been 5years, I will NOT allow My Daughter to give up or give in. She has so much fight in her & I believe that if there is more that I could do to help her recover, than I too, continue to fight for her. I have an attached garage in my home & I would love to turn that garage into a Physical Therapy room & get her the equipment that she needs to help her get stronger. During her time in therapy she has used equipments such as; the AutoAmbulator, Seated Leg Press Machine, Seated Bicycle, Seated Elliptical Machine, Excersise Ball to help her with trunk control. Arianalys has a walker that she loves to use especially as she listens to music which really gets her excited and going. Although she can not talk, her way of communicating is the use of an Alphabet board & she understands both English & Spanish, has gone back to school & has made awesome new friends whom have also learned to communicate with her. As a single mother who can not work because I care for my daughter & even go to school with her, I am asking for your help in helping ME give her the tools that she needs to get her back on her feet.
