Daysia’s Chiari Surgery

My name is Daysia, I am 16 years old. In September of 2019 I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is a defect where the brain is too big for the skull and comes out of the base of the skull and applies pressure on the spinal cord. This condition has been extremely life changing for me and my family. I am finally scheduled for decompression surgery March 17, 2020. Brain surgery is scary but i’m excited to get some relief and be back to normal living. The surgery will be costly and I want to take pressure off my parents as they will be taking off work to care for me as I recover.
