Service dog for Disabled Vet

Donation protected
Derick has just lost his beloved service companion. This is a devastating loss for anyone, but the real concern is Kimi saved Dericks life many times. More than can be counted and we now worry about him living alone without his service animal. Derick is a disabled vet and on a very limited income and can not afford to purchase a service animal, but also can not afford to be without one as his health is in jeopardy. His last two service animals were donated and unfortunatley the folks who provided the first two dogs for him are not in a position to provide another right now but are available to help with ongoing training and support that will be donated. We are reaching out to good hearted people everywhere hoping you can help Derick acquire his new service dog. Please take a moment to read some of his story:

Kimi was a Doberman pinscher of the highest caliber. Her father was a world champion, her mother an international champion she was bred to be courageous, loyal, and contrary to Hollywood’s portrayal of her breed a friend to all she encountered unless they were out to cause trouble. Kimi deeply blessed my life from the moment I encountered her. Her first miracle was she gave me something to truly trust and love. I recall the first time she saved my life literally I went to take some medication and she suddenly started barking and growling at me so I put my glasses on and saw that the medicine I was about to take was one that I had already taken and had I taken it I would have overdosed. Every time I went in to the bathroom she would lay right outside the door and if I was in there longer that she thought I should be she would first start to whine and if I didn’t answer her that I was ok she would first try to push the door open and then if she couldn’t she would raise the alarm barking and trying to get help as fast as possible; to say that she was loyal is a understatement she would stay basically within immediate eye sight at all times to give you a Idea of what she was working with I have had multiple heart attacks and Neurological disabilities I had given up all hope and desire of living she gave me a reason to get up and see the sunrise her favorite time of day she would nudge me lightly with her nose a couple of times and then would bark if I didn’t respond. The miracles that she would perform one needed to see to believe but two of these miracles are written in my words to the best of my limited ability.
Not long after I had received Kimi I moved to a small town, The Doctors had told me that my heart condition was severe one day shortly after moving here I started passing out suddenly Kimi would then do everything in her power to help awaken me from walking on me to licking me to barking to try getting help I came too with her doing these things. After several hours of this situation repeating I passed out in a doorway somehow still standing in the doorway leaning against it Kimi took and inched up to the side of me and somehow got me holding on to her Harness she then partially supported me and drug me to the sofa where I collapsed My family showed up shortly afterward and I tried to go out to help mend the fence where I again started passing out my Kimi came immediately to me and started raising the alarm they took me to the hospital where I underwent heart surgery with my arteries being blocked over 95% needless to say she just wouldn’t give up and let me die.
I also mentioned that I have a neurological condition where my body goes into basically seizures and yet I am totally lucid and in severe pain I can only explain it that it is like Charlie horses in every muscle times a factor of 100 going back and forth rapidly causing my limbs and body to convulse radically. I had one of these spells this last Friday and where I live alone except for at the time having Kimi with me I keep my emergency meds in a small bag Kimi ran and retrieved this bag with no command from me she then gently placed it into my one hand and helped me get it open I was finally able to get a hold of the most important medicine at this point but I could not get my hands together to open the bottle Kimi quickly climbed up on the couch opened her mouth taking hold of my arm thus steadying it and gently pushing my arms together thus enabling me to open the bottle and take the medicine she then climbed up on me in a lengthwise prone position trying to help hold me down while the spasms were hitting and started licking my neck to let me know that I was going to be ok. As far as I know these were things that were above and beyond what her training was little did I know that Sunday night at about 11:30 pm would die to say the least life without her dawn morning call to see the sunrise and watch the horses My neighbor owns this house is empty no more tug a war no more catch and hundreds of other things
Kimi was a true Hero and a friend to everyone when we would go up to the VA she noticed a veteran in tears and pulled against her leash until I let her go over to that veteran with me she then sat down by his wheel chair and started licking his hand he said that he was in unbearable pain and that he felt no one cared but that Kimi had seen his need and given him some comfort he was so grateful. It seemed as though everyone had to say hello to her and many looked forward to her visits this is a true story about a Doberman they are not the mean and vicious animals that Hollywood has made them out to be but they will protect to the death if necessary just like they were bred to do be man’s best friend and companion and protector only when necessary.
