Update:

Thanks so much!!!

This community has been so incredible through a difficult time and we want to thank everyone for their amazing support and generosity.

We also thought an update was in order, so we are using this space as a way to communicate the progress Dax is making.    He has received more good news in the last week.   For the second time since his year-long   treatment began, an MRI showed tumor reduction.   Dax is starting his fifth round of chemotherapy this month and it makes it easier knowing that the treatment is working and the tumor is shrinking!

Dax continues to coach lacrosse at Monarch High School, and this summer will be coaching the Under       Armour Southwest team in Baltimore and lacrosse camp at the United States Naval Academy. He is           working towards increasing his strength and mobility everyday.     He is moving through treatment in a      positive and focused way, and knowing that so many people (near and far) are there to support him with     encouraging words or a generous donation, is so meaningful and helps sharpen his determination even    more.  Thanks again.

Jen and Dax

Dax Roane fantastic Monarch Lacrosse offensive coordinator/player/husband and wife returned back from his yearly summer trip back east and had some numbing sensation in his body. In late September he went to the doctor's office to get to the bottom of what was going on.   Dax was told he had a brain tumor and later a biopsy revealed he had WHO grade three anaplastic astrocytoma.

As soon as he could Dax went into an aggressive treatment plan including radiation in November/ December and a year long chemotherapy plan. In the meantime Dax had to resign from his longtime  position as a Sommelier at the Chop House in Denver. Dax was in the middle of transitioning to become a full time realtor but the timing of this was not great. Currently, Dax is working hard in treatment and also in rehab as one side of his body has become very weak. He still participants in all the Monarch off-season lacrosse work outs and continues to mold young men into great citizens and players.

Coach Roane is originally from Annapolis, Maryland and has lived in Aspen and the Front Range for the last 24 years. He started playing lacrosse at age seven and currently plays in the Colorado United Lacrosse League and the Vail Shootout. In college he balanced lacrosse and rowing crew with teaching Human Prosection & Anatomy and working as an EMT.  He has been married to his wife Jennifer for many years and enjoys spending time at home with his three children, Stella, Charley and Lucy.
