Dawson is critically injured and needs your help

Dawson needs your help.

While on a long anticipated family trip, Dawson was critically injured in a moped accident.  He was with his wife Kellie, and was wearing a helmet when he hit the road shoulder, catapulted off his moped and landed on concrete.  He was not conscious, bleeding profusely and barely breathing.  Kellie helplessly waited over 30 mins watching Dawson bleeding on the ground until they were transported to the small clinic on the island, and Kellie was told that Dawson would most likely die.  Dawson was flown for life to Nassau, Bahamas, where the staff knew that they did not have the abilities nor equipment to properly deal with his injuries.  Kellie then frantically started to try to facilitate getting Dawson to the USA, a difficult task between Covid, Dawson’s fragile condition and worst of all, the fact that like many self employed individuals, Dawson does not have health insurance coverage at this time.  Finding air transport and an accepting hospital took 5 days while Dawson lay in a hallway in a medically induced coma with multiple injuries from head to toe: severe brain damage, lung damage, too many fractures to list, plus countless cuts, lacerations and bruising.  Kellie had to secure an upfront payment of $350,000 which did not include paying the bills that had accrued so far.  She achieved this with the help of family members, friends, and credit cards.

Dawson was finally flown to Miami. Two hours after arriving there, Dawson's heart stopped. The trauma team worked on him for several minutes and brought him back to us.  He has since had kidney failure and is dealing with a sepsis infection on top of the other issues. His condition continues to change minute to minute. In spite of all his multiple challenges, Dawson continues to improve bit by bit, and his doctors are cautiously optimistic. Dawson’s daughter Kyli flew to be by his side from California where she is a college student, his parents are also with him in Miami.

Kellie, Kyli and Dawson’s family ask that you continue to keep Dawson in your thoughts and send positive energy to him as we believe that this is much of the reason Dawson is still alive.  Dawson is a fighter and when he sets his mind to something he follows through until his goal is met- many who know him know how passionate he is about his beliefs and have seen him endlessly advocate for others.

Dawson has spent most of his adult life helping other people.  He is a believer in putting all the good you can into the universe.  Dawson single handedly created a new business model for Maine that allowed for thousands of new jobs and over 500 new businesses which have helped hundreds of thousands of Maine people and brought in millions of dollars in tax revenue for the state. Dawson has given so much of himself and now he really needs your help. The estimated cost for his care so far is already over 1 million dollars. He will need funds not only for current care but for his rehabilitation. We ask you to please help us lessen some of this financial burden so Dawson and his family do not lose all they have worked so hard for while Dawson is fighting for his life.  100% of any funds received will go directly to his medical expenses. Anything you can contribute will be deeply appreciated by his family.
