Dawn has been one of my closest and dearest friends for over 35 years. She is such a loving and compassionate person and would always be there to help anyone in need. She is always optimistic and sees the good in every situation, which is why I feel so strongly that I need to ask you to help me assist her through this horrible time in her life while she fights Triple Negative Breast Cancer as a single mom .
Dawn Burke resides on Long Island, New York. If you know her personally , you know that she has had a very tough struggle for many years. It started with a tough marriage that she was finally able to get her and her son out of. She cared for her dad on her own for many years who suffered from debilitating Parkinsons Disease and he went blind from Macular Degeneration. Soon after he passed, her mom's Alzheimers made it impossible for her to live alone. Dawn picked up herself, her son and her mom and moved into a home for them all to live in together. Horror hit again three months later when Dawn needed to call an ambulance for her mom when she was having trouble walking and it turned out the EMT flipped the stretcher over, smashing her mom onto her head and she died 8 days later. The tragedy was that the EMT's lied and said she didn't fall, but hospital security pictures proved otherwise.
Dawn's Husband didn't want her working when they were married but after she moved out she managed to go back to work and was soon promoted to Executive Director, while also caring for her parents. Her Mom's aide would help with Dawn's son while she worked. So losing mom and the aide made it very difficult for Dawn to continue working. She also needed to spend every cent she made on attorney fees for her divorce , which is still going on five years later. So this diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer has put her completely over the edge. She will not be able to go back to work until she gets through chemo, recovers from a double mastectomy, and completes the trial for her divorce. Possible radiation as well.
Having little child support and no money coming in is putting an extra burden on her and her recovery.
I pray that we can all help her relieve the burden and financial stress that is more than anyone could handle. She has proved she is strong and can handle most situations , but this is more than anyone could handle !!
