We have been overwhelmed by support for this reward treat and as such have exceeded our original target and can't thank all those who have kindly given enough. This means the students will have a fantastic treat afternoon when we return from half term.

We have decided as a result of the success of this to plan for a further attendance challenge and any further funds donated will be used for this. We have increased our target to see if we can achieve this. We have looked at numbers of children who have achieved the current challenge and it appears attendance has improved for almost 400 of our students- this is an amazing engagement and one which is definitely driven by the treat at the end.

Hi,

I am a teacher at Dawlish College with a passion for all things positive. So often in schools, the more enjoyable elements for our students are those that are cut when budgets are tight. You will have seen this narrative nationwide. I am not prepared to sit back and accept that these cuts mean less rewards for our students.

Young people are struggling to engage with education in today's society and often tell me that school isn't 'fun' One of my responsibilities is to increase attendance and engagement in school. My plan is to create a fun afternoon for all those students who achieve my recently launched 20 day streak challenge. Students are engaging with this and are asking me what 'special treat' i have planned! They have even started to leave lists of suggestions on my desk!

I'm thinking something along the lines of......... bouncy castles, ice cream vans, BBQ, picnic in the sun - Just a really positive afternoon treat for those students who come to school, get things right and are always wanting to achieve the best. These students deserve a treat - a reward and little gesture to encourage them to keep going. This sort of event comes with significant cost, so I am reaching out to the community for financial help to make this happen.

Every little contribution could go a long way towards what we can offer students, so we would equally appreciate any level of donation, from something small that could be put towards something bigger to something more substantial that could bear the name or sponsorship of your company or business to promote your generosity.

We are aiming to raise £1,000 for a student rewards event on Thursday 22nd May. We are grateful for any donation, and if we exceed our goal, any surplus money at the end of this event will be safely put aside for future student reward events.
