<div>On January 20th, we received word from our parent company, Vox Media, that we would no longer be “Managed or Monetized” by them after February 28th. This was later expanded into an extension into March, where we will be given our name, site domain, archive, and brand (though the site logo is changing for obvious reasons). You’ve likely seen other GFM campaigns similar to this one from other sites like Broad Street Hockey or Defending Big D, and it’s for the same reason; we want to be able to hit the independent ground running while we transition to the fully independent “2.0” version of Davy Jones Locker Room.

<div>Our goal here is to raise about $6500 so that we can continue to pay our contributors and editors, as well as our chosen hosting service’s fees. Our budget before our current situation was about $1000 a month to pay our seven writers and two editors, all of whom have been passionate about bringing you the very best in-and-out-of-game coverage and analysis on the Kraken since day one. Every dollar given here will go directly towards ensuring the site remains up and running, and our writers can still bring you the best possible coverage of the Seattle Kraken.
