Davis Cancer Recovery Fund

In mid 2018, my best friend from college was diagnosed and began treatment for colon cancer. I was devastated and felt hopeless, fearing I would lose my best friend forever. I knew I had to go visit him back home but had to wait until he had gone through at least some of his treatment. After waiting until there was a convenient point where he was in between two rounds of chemo, I flew out and stayed with him and his family for a week. I thought that this would be a great opportunity to see him, catch up, meet his family and help take his mind off of his struggles. Little did I know, visiting not only helped him, but it helped me have a far greater understanding of the effects of cancer and cancer treatment on a person physically, mentally and emotionally including how it affects an otherwise normal family dynamic. Thankfully, my friend has beaten this terrible disease but it has come with the cost of not having a normal life again. My friend is very lucky to be in good health now and have the opportunity to continue pursuing his passion at a top tier engineering and flight school. His intentions are to move back to school and finish his education. Forget everything else, the financial cost of treatment is immense, and my friend was unable to work during his time being ill. My hope is that through this fund and the help of others, we will potentially be able to help make my friend’s transition back to school a little smoother by covering the cost of a few months of rent, utilities, food, and other bills that would require a start from scratch to earn.  To be able to reach a fraction of the goal I have set would not only mean the world to me, but to him and his family, as this has been no doubt one of the most challenging times in their lives. All of the funds raised go to my friend Ty. Despite the fact that he has said himself he doesn’t want to be viewed as just “the guy who had cancer”, I have every intention of doing what I can to help him since he has always done the same for me. Any donation is sincerely appreciated and will go a long way. Thank you!
