Memorial Fund for David Thacker

A memorial fund for David Thacker.....

It is with much sadness to announce the passing of David Eugene Thacker, 44, on 1/20/2015.  Dave was a son, a brother, a father, a loving partner and a human.  This unexpected loss has left us with a hole in our hearts!  Upon hearing of the passing of the rebel with a beautiful soul,  words of comfort poured in with tears of sorrow and remembrance embracing us as hugs.  It is very apparent that Dave was loved by so many people!! Facebook has been our platform to remember him with photos, stories, music.  It is also our platform to help his brother, Shawn and his mom, Janell, provide David his peaceful resting place .

Many of you expressed the need and desire to help support us in anyway we needed.  Here is how you can fulfill that promise of support.  Although it seems impersonal to offer the gift of financial support, it actually is the most important in this situation, as well as the most crucial: It is the final place of rest for David.  Since Dave has been unable to work the past several years due to the near-fatal car accident in 2009, he has no life insurance, nor any retirement funds or savings. His health since the accident has not been the same, struggling with pain daily and memory retention.  With conditions like these endured daily, the emotional drain takes a toll as well, which has been quite debilitating for him, depressing even. Working was impossible, no matter how much he loved it - working with metals was his passion!  Those of you who knew Dave well, would know that he would deny all of this and say "I'll push through" and be stubborn about it!  He was a prideful man, not letting any obstacle keep him away from spending time with his son or doing what he wanted to do!  Previously, Met Life had provided disability insurance, however that lapsed in 2013. Dave did have a Social Security Disability Insurance case pending, however it has been 9 months with no hearing date in sight.  Focus to Shawn and Janell: they, too, have had their share of hardship and illness in the past two years. I cannot express enough how great the need is for assistance to provide end of life services for David.  This is how you can support us all.

Thank you for reading Dave's story; hopefully it helps you understand the situation and compel you to help us. We humbly ask you to donate to this fund. Even if it is $10, $20!  It all helps!  We also ask that you share this with your family and friends.  The Memorial Fund will pay for transfer services from Kennewick to Spokane, casket, preparation, transport to cemetery, burial, and reception (following the service): our goal is $6000.  Please note: this is for basic options, no extra bells and whistles! For all of us, this is something to consider for our families when planning our end-of-life wishes. If there are any funds left over, they will be put into a fund for Dave's son, Jacob, to use for school and sports expenses.

Again, thank you for your consideration in deciding to donate.  Shawn, Janell, Lisa, Jacob, Mickey and I truly and deeply appreciate all the love and support you have given us during this unexpected loss!  We hope to see you at Dave's celebration of life tentatively set for  Saturday, January 31, in Spokane.  Time and place to be announced on Facebook so stay tuned!
