Jan. 6th, 2015 - "a day my family will never forget"
My dad, David Coates, went skiing in Keystone, Colorado and suffered a massive heart attack - one he did not survive. My dad was a man of faith, the kind of faith that can move mountains and he had an amazing outlook on life, no matter his circumstances, his attitude was "Praise God!" and he did it with a smile.
He had been wanting to go skiing for a few years, especially when he and my mom moved to Longmont, CO recently and was so looking forward to spending the day in the beauty of the rocky mountains.
My youngest sister Ashley, my sister Keri and her husband Colin all live in Longmont with my parents as well.
My brother Jeff was/is in Brazil with his wife's family, my oldest sister, Kristel, was in our hometown of Ancaster, Ontario and I was here in Alabama.
Our dad was in great health as far as we knew and was always full of energy and adventure. Little did we know that on Jan 6 when he kissed my mom good bye and told her he'd be home for dinner, would be the last time they'd see each other here on earth - married 47 years!
There are so many sudden, extra expenses involved with this situation that we are reaching out to friends and family for their support. Two expenses we are in need for help are:
1. The cost to fly our dad from Colorado to Canada so that he can be buried back home in Ancaster, Ontario.
2. A furnished rental home in Ancaster/Hamilton, Ontario to house all the out of town family to all be together for a few weeks.
If you feel lead to help with something even so small, it would be a huge blessing to our family. We are so thankful for the tremendous outpouring of well wishes and prayers which has made this process a lot easier on all of us. Knowing there are people who care about us and our family has touched all of us in a very special way. It's amazing to see the outpouring of human compassion from a great God who loves us. If you can't offer financial support, we would still love and appreciate prayers during this hard time.
