David & Melinda's Farm Restoration

David and Melinda Maxwell-Gibb have spent over 25 years farming in central Puerto Rico, near Orocovis. Hurricane Maria passed right over their house and it was nearly a week before we got word that they were ok.  Their farm has been almost totally destroyed.  Giant trees are blocking the roads, and water is running short.  They have no communications at the farm, and have to trek across the debris in order to get a signal to call. 
It has been nearly three weeks since the storm  ravaged the island, but Melinda and David have seen no relief, and no FEMA personnel. In the midst of such chaos,  it is hard to know where to start.  The immediate need is to hire help to clear the roads.  They will need a new chainsaw, and some kind of weed-whacker. Finally, they will need a new generator to power the pump for the well. 
Orocovis seems like long way from Montgomery, Alabama - but Melinda and I have been friends for nearly 50 years.  When she was able to get through to me, she was very clear, and determined: they have a plan, but they need money. Starting this campaign is the one thing that I can do to try to help them begin to restore the farm that is their life's work.
