David May's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
For as long as I can remember my dad has always been "sick". It wasn't until I got older that I began to understand just what "sick" meant and just how "sick" he was. My dad needed a new liver. I've learned more about our situation in the last year than I ever did any year before.

On September 2, 2017 my dad starting throwing up blood. You ask anyone in my family and we would have told you that this was the beginning of the end. We didn't know that there was still more that could be done. I'll spare you the gory details, but it was a LONG year filled with countless hours of procedures and ER/ hospital visits. My mom even left her job she loved very much to stay home with my dad everyday. The doctors told us this cycle could go on for 5 years and I know my parents would've lived that cycle for all of it. Personally, there were days when I would think that we were waiting for a day that would never come, but God had other plans.

Wednesday August 29, 2018 at 5:30 PM my mom received the call that they had a liver and to get to Dallas ASAP. They drove all night and arrived shortly after midnight August 30. My dad was taken into surgery at 4:30AM. At 12:30PM i got the text that he was out of surgery and that everything  went well. The day we thought would never come had now come and gone.

Today begins a new journey. A new beginning for us. However, for the next 3 months my parents will have to live out of a hotel in the Dallas area so he can be closely monitored by the transplant doctors. I know $15000 is a lot of money. Just typing it out seems insurmountable. Your contributions will go towards helping my parents pay for lodging, food, and the new regiment of medications needed for recovery. Your willingness to give is greatly appreciated, even the smallest amounts. I ask everyone please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Thank you & God bless.
