Hello! My name is David Gunn, and I am currently a student athlete participating in basketball at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. Recently, I have been given the opportunity of going on a basketball mission trip in Germany from the end of July to the middle of August.
The organization that I hope to travel with on this mission trip is called News Release Basketball. The mission of this organization is as follows: "to present the good news of JESUS CHRIST and develop disciples of our Lord by building Christ-centered relationships using the sport of basketball." I hope to accomplish this mission while traveling over to Germany to spread the love of the Lord through the game of basketball.

News Release Basketball is an athletic ministry that uses basketball to share God’s love overseas. News Release Basketball teams will be traveling to Germany, where we will be playing games against various local teams. We conduct basketball clinics and camps for young people, and have chances to share at the camps as well as othermeetings in churches, schools, coffee houses, etc. At each game the team sings and gives testimonies about Jesus Christ. After the game we remain and talk with those who are interested in learning more.
I am so excited about this unique opportunity that has been presented to me and to use the game of basketball to spread the message and love of Jesus Christ to people around the world.
With every trip though, comes a cost. I am asking for $2800 to help cover all of my expenses from this trip. Each player going is responsible to generate the funds in order to pay for everything. Airline travel contributes the most to the tour costs, taking up about two-thirds
of the budget. The rest of the tour budget includes other transportation, player and team equipment, literature, food, lodging and other miscellaneous expenses.
I would greatly appreciate any sum of money that you could donate to me in order to help make this trip/dream of mine come true. By doing so you can help make a difference in my life as well as the people that we hope to reach during this trip.
Coming off of an injury that kept me out for the entirety of the last season, it just feels great for me to be able to play basketball again. I realized how much of a privilege it is to be able to play this game that I love so much, and the huge impact that it not only has on me, but potentially everyone around me. I hope to use this experience in Germany with playing against pro teams to help get back into rigors that come along with playing basketball at a high level, and helping me to set the stage for my next season at Westmont.
I am so thankful to God for this opportunity that has been given to me, and cant wait to see what the future holds!
