DAVID GOES TO SCHOOL

Donation protected
David is deaf & mute. He is about 8 years old. He lost both his parents when he was 3. He has an old frail grandfather, who is simply too old to help, an older sister, who herself is in school, thanks to his auntie, Miss Bright, a young lady, herself, struggling to provide as much as she can, for them.

I was born in Nigeria, to a more fortunate home, and my parents have always cared for less fortunate people. I went to visit my mother, in August 2018, and I noticed David playing with the kids outside. He's quite brilliant. He's figured out names for everyone, and generally, by obvious gesticulations, he is able to communicate. He carries out little errands and does chores for people around the neighborhood, and they look out for him. Some of them feed him, and others buy him clothes.

What I noticed though, was that no one tried to get him into a special school for the deaf. I figured there had to be one, so I made it my mission over the next 2 weeks, to get him into school. I'm happy to say I SUCCEEDED! I paid for all his fees, out of my own pocket, and bought him a uniform, P.E. clothes, and I gave his aunt enough money to cover taxi rides, for the next 3 months. Great right?! I'm happy my guy is all set and will be able to attend school!

Why have I set up this gofundme? I want you guys to help me pay for his transport to school, for the next year, as the school doesn't have a bus that picks the kids up, and he lives a great distance from the only available school in the area. A taxi will pick him up every mon-fri and drop him off, and at the end of the month, will receive a standard monthly payment.

That amount is exactly $58 multiplied to 3 months ($178)

For the year (3 quarters), it's $522.

For $522 every year, you and I can help change David's life, give him a chance to learn a trade, meet a girl, get married, have children of his own, and be a functioning member of society.

The rest of the goal amount will simply go toward helping his grand father with some medication, and helping his sister and aunt be able to feed him and clothe him, buy detergents, and little things. They are very simple people, and I, Eric Eyo Ita, vouch for them.

I'm working on a documentary of my experience with David, but in the mean time, you can find more about our journey together, on my instagram @ericitaphoto.
