David Clancy's battle to beat cancer!

Donation protected
David started having abdominal pain in August 2020, after a few weeks he went to the emergency room with chills and increased pain. It was determined that he had a small perforation in his bowel. He was admitted and given IV antibiotics for a number of days, then sent home. He continued IV antibiotics at home, after 10 days the pain again became worse.

He returned to the emergency room and when they completed a CT scan they said an abscess had formed at the perforation site. They admitted him again, while he was there they attempted to drain the abscess twice without success. They did however get enough to culture it to try and determine what antibiotic would be most appropriate. He was sent home again, continuing IV antibiotics.

The following week, on a Tuesday night he noticed a large lump in his lower abdomen around the site where they tried to drain the abscess. The following morning he went to his appointment with the surgeon and he arranged surgery for the following week. On Friday of that week he went to his Infectious Disease Dr's appointment, the lump had gotten significantly larger and painful. The Dr immediately readmitted him to the hospital.

Surgery was completed the following Monday where it was required to place a colostomy and where the abscess was removed, a large wound was left open where he now requires a wound vacuum.  The following weekend, while still inpatient at the hospital, the surgeon came in to inform David that the pathologist called him during the night and stated that they found cancer in the the abscess.
The next morning, the oncologist saw David and told him at that time he was stage 3 colon cancer and that he is looking at 6months of chemotherapy.

He is having his chemo port placed today. We are currently waiting for another pathology report and MRI as they found spots on his liver and need to determine if it is actually stage 4. We will update as soon as we know the results.

David's job has mentioned making him redundant which means he would no longer have insurance. I can add him to mine, but it will take some time to get it completed. He has not been able to work during this time and bills are quickly piling up. He does not qualify for FMLA or Short Term Disability, or any assistance from the government.

He has such a positive outlook and is optimistic about fighting and winning this battle. Sadly all of his family live in England and cannot be here. Thankfully we have some great emotional support from my family and some wonderful friends.
We are so grateful for whatever help we can get. If not financial, thoughts and prayers are always amazing!
