David Bolton Memorial Fund

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, the world lost one of the greats when our dear friend David Bolton died doing what he loved—flying. He was leaving Troutbeck Airfield in Cumbria after flying to England’s Lake District with his wife Ali and best friend Graham, when his plane tragically crashed during takeoff. He is survived by his wife Ali, son Josh and daughter Amy. He is also survived by his parents Michael and Ann Bolton, and his brother Andrew.

David lived life to the fullest, and his passion was contagious. Whatever he did, he threw everything he had into it, usually wearing his trademark huge grin. Whether shooting at the range, tinkering with his classic sports cars, flying his plane, playing the guitar, or skiing, his pure joy was evident and tangible.

And his cooking…that was on another level! He transformed into a Michelin Star chef whenever he entered the kitchen. From making Paella on the barbeque in summertime, to late-night snacks, to Christmas dinner for 40, he cooked with an unmatched combination of speed and precision (so long as you didn’t get in his way!).

David was a problem solver, and it seemed there was nothing he couldn’t fix. Whether your car broke down, you were having a bad day at work, or were fighting with a family member, it didn’t matter. Just call David, day or night, and he’d drop everything be there for you…to make it better. He was that person—the go-to person—for so, so many people.

At work, he led with conviction. He had a vision, and conveyed it with energy and enthusiasm, inspiring others to follow. He believed in the impact of his work, as well as the ability of those around him to help execute it. He was a mentor and guide to many, and his confidence in his team made them aspire to be that best version of themselves—the version that David saw. As one teammate said, “He was the James Bond of tech. He had it all—the charm/charisma, the fast cars, tattoos, the life experiences, his smarts (on just about everything), the way he commanded an audience, the way people would gravitate to him in a room…he could do just about anything he wanted!!!”

He shaped the lives of so many, making countless lives brighter for having been in them. His imprint will be forever left on the family and friends he leaves behind. Those who were lucky enough to have known him, will be forever changed for the better.

This page is dedicated to his wife and children. Of all of David’s passions, they were by far his greatest. An incredible husband and father, David loved them with everything he had—there wasn’t a thing he wouldn’t have done for them. He couldn’t have been prouder of who they are today, and how they’re so bravely learning to navigate this new world without him in it. This memorial has been set up by David’s friends to support his family and favorite charities during this challenging time. 100% of the funds collected will go towards this goal.

Thank you,
