<div>Heart Failure. Those are two words you never want to hear put together, especially when it’s describing the state of someone you love. And especially when that person is only 34 years old.

<div>David, my big brother, was diagnosed with heart failure last June. This hit our family hard and left us reeling with so many questions, several of which are still without answer. However, what we can say without any question is that our God has never ceased being good. Through this trial of David’s physical heart, God has already done a great work in all of our spiritual hearts. All praise and glory to Him!

<div>After a month long stay in the hospital and an open heart surgery where he was put on an LVAD (heart pump), David has been home since the beginning of July 2024. Since then, he has had several doctor’s appointments, medications, an additional surgery &amp; hospital stay (only a week that time!) later in the year. And of course he continues to need lots of medical equipment just for his daily life. A total heart transplant is what his team of doctors are looking at in his future, but we’re taking it one day at a time and praising God for each step he gives along the way. He is receiving ongoing care that allows him to have an almost-back-to-normal life. I only say “almost” because this diagnoses necessitates many changes and certain dependencies. In a very real sense, there will be no going back to the way things used to be. But we do not despair! We are so thankful for him, and for his absolutely amazing wife who has been a steadfast and loving best friend to him. She has not wavered in her love and has remained his fierce advocate in all of this. Thank you, God, for Elizabeth Meade! We also believe that God can still restore his heart this side of heaven and pray for that consistently. Even if He doesn’t, the future is still anchored in our eternal hope. I’ll say it again, we do not despair!

<div>As a result of this major medical crisis, he and my sweet sister in law are now facing a hefty financial crisis. They have tried to carry it alone for a year and a half, but we want to bless them and reach out to extended family and friends to give you all a chance to bless them as well. We would love for you to join us in praying for healing and a restored heart for my brother, and if you can give to the financial need that’d be a blessing, too.
