Davian-Jack Spencer Shawn Ward came into the world on June 18th, 2015. During the 5 years of his life, he has been a soccer player shooting winning goals for the Sidekicks, in the 98th percentile among his classmates at school, loving Jurassic Park Godzilla Star Wars like his father, singing to his jams in the backseat on car-rides, a first-born son, a great-grandson, a grandson, a nephew, a cousin, a best friend, and finally a big brother. On November 5th, 2020, his life as he knew it was completely altered as he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma Cancer. For a month prior to the diagnoses, he had been experiencing sharp and unbearable  “growing pains” in both of his legs for a month eventually leaving him crying and screaming throughout the night alongside their newborn baby, Draeton Ward, who was born on October 4th, 2020. After doing blood tests, an MRI was necessary. The news that followed was heartbreaking and gut-wrenching for Cassidy and Spencer, the parents of Davian and Draeton as well as to their family and friends. Hours after receiving the MRI results       showing cancer in both of Davian’s legs, Cassidy, Spencer and Davian were all        rushed to Dallas Medical City Children’s Hospital. The doctors found a tumor under his right kidney and it has spread to the   bone marrow, which means it is spreading extremely rapidly and aggressively. Davian will be undergoing chemotherapy beginning on November 10th for 5-day increments every 2 weeks for the next year. Stage 4 or “M” Neuroblastoma is considered high-risk and life-threatening. This cancer is no joke and Davian has the worst part of it. We are not letting any other option to take place other than for Davian to kick this cancer’s A$$. Davian is the strongest boy with a heart of gold and has so much love to give. He will win this battle. We do truly need your continuous help in prayers and through the utmost support. As you can imagine, Cassidy and Spencer and of course Davian are devastated and terrified of how his body will react to the treatment and the cancer itself. This is the last thing anyone would ever imagine would happen to their baby. With news like this, no one has time to digest the information or preparation, it requires immediate action and adaptation along the way. Cassidy and Spencer are homeowners and the absolute best parents of two beautiful boys. They have a mortgage to pay, bills that come along with a home, diapers and essential items for having a new baby, and now the unexpected medical finances that will come with recurring hospital stays and continuous cancer treatments. The injection is not currently covered by insurance. One chemotherapy treatment can cost up to $10,000 and they will have at the minimum 25 treatments throughout the next year. They will have to pay co-pays for each visit to the hospital. In addition to that, in order to be released from the hospital in between treatments, he has to be injected with a shot every day that he is home, which costs more than $7,000 per day. We want to thank each of the doctors that have played a part in Davian’s fight so far to identify the situation and to take immediate action. Now, we pray that the doctors and nurses continue to relieve him of his pain and absolve the spreading cancerous tumor. Davian is the strongest little boy. We pray for Davian’s strength to never back down and for his body to stand mighty against the fight of this cancer. His future is so bright.
