Professor Davenport is a highly regarded and respected conductor and music academic. The Dillard University Concert Choir, under Professor Davenport's baton, have toured extensively over the years; including: The White House, concert halls in New York and Chicago, and hundreds of churches and schools throughout the country.
This year, 2014, marks the beginning of Mr. Davenport's 40th year of conducting and teaching at Dillard University in New Orleans. To mark this milestone, many Dillard Alumni who sang for many years under Mr. Davenport are coming together to endow a music/choir scholarship at their beoved Alma Mater named in honor or Professor Davenport.
Over 500 voices are expected to return to pay homage to their esteemed director, Professor Davenport, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in Lawless Memorial Chapel on the beautiful campus of Dillard University, 2601 Gentilly Blvd, which will serve as the official kickoff for the S. Carver Davenport Endowed Scholarship Fund!!!
ALL proceeds will directly benefit the establishment of the S. Carver Davenport Endowed Scholarship at Dillard University in New Orleans, LA.
