On January 31, 2014 my dad, David Honeycutt left work early due to a severe migraine. He went to the Emergency Room in Kingman Arizona to have a CAT scan; they discovered a mass on the front of his brain. He was then immediately flown to the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas Nevada. When he arrived in Vegas they had given him medicine for the pain and he was then admitted to the hospital. Over the next few days they did more tests and scans’ finding out that the mass was larger than a softball. He had brain surgery on February 4th to remove the mass.His neurosurgeon said that surgery went very good and my dad was able to open his eyes and say a few words the same day of his surgery. The very next day he was walking down the hallways in the hospital. He was then released from the hospital on February 8th and shortly after, discovered that the mass was in fact cancerous. He then found out he could not return to work for at least two months, which was very difficult for my parents financially. After the two months had past he finally went back to work on light duty work only. However, he has become very forgetful and does not have a lot of energy since his surgery. He has even missed work from being in so much pain some days. He started his radiation treatment on May 5th and is still currently anticipating the approval from his insurance for chemotherapy pills. His cancer treatment doctor has required him to not drive for at least six months starting when he first began his radiation. This is also very difficult for my parents due to the fact that my mom has to take my dad to his radiation appointments five days a week. This causes both of my parents to miss work every single day for a total of six weeks. That’s not including additional doctor appointments with his neurosurgeon or his chemotherapy doctor. Some days are better than others, we do not know one day to the next if he will be able to make it to work. My parents are struggling financially to pay for co pays, insurance deductibles, gas to take him to his appointments, and month to month bills. Anything will help and be greatly appreciated.
