Dave Zuch's Kidney Journey
I am Justina Mayberry, Dave (D.J. Zuch's mom). What wouldn't a mother and family members do for their son, brother, nephew, husband, etc., no matter their age? When you hear the heart-wrenching news that your child or a family member has medical, possible catastrophic medical issues, you jump into action.
Dave (D.J.) became ill in February with flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, leg swelling, etc. His symptoms got progressively worse, and he became very sick in July.
After seeing his primary care doctor in September (because he was still not feeling well and had extremely high blood pressure), he was advised to immediately go to the local hospital's E.R. for tests and further evaluation. After numerous tests, Dave was admitted to the ICU for constant monitoring as it was discovered he was suffering from renal failure and needed to have his blood pressure medication zeroed in and start dialysis. Both prescription and dialysis were started. A kidney biopsy was performed, and it was determined he needs a kidney transplant and continued dialysis until a donor is available.
Even though it is difficult for Dave to ask for help, he has consented as many specialized appointments, travel and accommodations are needed as well as maintaining the homefront.
Dave is married to the love of his life, Kim and is dad to fur babies, Charlie and Sunny. He will continue to work as allowed and is grateful to be able to do so.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers and support during Dave's journey.
