Dave Mitchell's Recovery

My father, Dr. David Mitchell is a great man. For work he is a full time Lecturer and Professor at the University of Rhode Island and a guest teacher for the NCEB. In his spare time he hangs out with our beautiful golden retriever and is a regular around Newport, Rhode Island. He's most known for being an active and proud member of the Newport Restaurant Group. Always on the water, and almost always with a smile, my father will tell a joke to any NRG patron or staff if it will brighten their day. A mentor to many, including myself, he and I are both in need.
On Sunday, February 4th my Dad suffered a severe stroke. As he is an independent man, when I didn't hear back from him for a couple of days, I let it slide. By Wednesday, worriedly, I sent someone to his house only for them to find him, semi-conscious. After the paramedics rushed him from Newport to Rhode Island Hospital, he began to recover. With his motor functions still, mostly, in tact my father continues to fight each day to get better. He has some movement on his left side, he can feel, his speech has improved and he is continually cognizant. His jokes are still dry and corny. Dave is still here.
Where we need your help is simple. My father is recovering and while insurance will cover some bills, we need help in order to pay everything back. Normally, we and I, hate asking for money but as he continues to recover he will be unable to work. Every little bit helps and the support my Dad has already received has been phenomenal.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out thus far about my Dad. The visitors, the thinkers and the prayers are all making him better, day by day. We're hoping he will be moving to a rehab facility soon and be one step further to the road back to his old self.
