Early Sunday morning, 4/19/2020, David C Kobs, 63 years old, from Kaukauna, WI, passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side. He had a 2 year struggle with lung cancer that progressively got worse. Starting with multiple surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. Complications with the chemo drugs sent him back to the ER with pulmonary embolism's and congestive heart failure. After countless nights in the hospital and nursing home, he was moved onto hospice care to spend his final time at home with his life partner of 30+ years, Lisa Lemke
Dave was my step father who has been in my life since I was a young child. He was always there for me growing up; helping coach my little league team, driving our RC cars around, and giving me fatherly advice when I needed it. Words cant describe how much I miss him ☹
Dave thought he had life insurance and a pension from a previous employer to leave behind to his significant other and his sons. In the process of moving to COBRA insurance after his work disability ran out, his life insurance policy wasn't transferred, and is no longer active. He also had a pension from a previous employer with my mother listed as the beneficiary, but because they aren't legally married anymore, they say she gets nothing from it. Even his former employer was surprised to hear this and is trying to help us fight to get something, but its doesn't seem like there will be any money.
Funeral expenses are expected to be around $5500 which is the majority of the money he had. All funds received from donations will go towards Dave's final expenses. If there is any money leftover it will go into his estate to be dispersed as described in his will.
