Dave & Susan Gunas Our Love Story

As most of you know, this past July 4th, Mom had a Stroke and lost her Independence. We’re reaching out to our friends and family today to share the challenges that they currently face. It’s been 8 months now since Moms stroke and several factors have added up to big challenges for them. First, Dad has not been able to work to pay the bills and still care for mom full-time. Plus, over the past ten years, they’ve had some real financial hard times. They are now in desperate need for handicap housing since the small house they currently rent is up a full flight of stairs and the bathroom is so small mom can’t get in with her walker and her hospital bed fills the living room. Their bills are just piling up and their Medicare will soon be running out. They are hurting and could really use some help!
Where are we now? They say the best window of opportunity for stroke recovery is in the first year. So, we want mom to be able to focus on her recovery. We are so proud of Mom for her great spirit and effort in learning at 76 how to stand up and walk again. Now if we could just get her left upper body/arm/wrist/hand working again. We are looking into some experimental procedures with Botox that may loosen up the wrist bone and fingers. Mom is mostly doing so well because of Dads TLC! He has been an angel running the household, cooking, shopping and caring for mom with all his heart. They are even more in love now than ever. In fact, Dad re-proposed to the love of his life on Christmas Eve, she of course said yes, stood as best as she could just to be in his arms again even for a second as they danced a small step to their Special Song. Their Love is still just as Amazing as you remember it!! We have all learned Love through these two Special people!
Every time we run into anyone who knows our parents, they always smile at the thought of them and share a story of some act of kindness from my parents that helped them through a tough time or just a fun memory of all the good times. Their 58th wedding Anniversary is June 16th and it’d be so Amazing if we could all pay it forward, share the love and bless this sweet loving couple as they continue into the next chapter of their lives together.
