DAUGHTER SEEKS HOME CARE FOR MOTHER WITH ALZHEIMER'S
THE STORY.
A few months ago, Danaë Carter was blessed with a huge promotion at work - Program Director of Stages at SPARC (School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community), heading their in-school outreach program for children who are facing the hardest challenges. It is a dream position for her, and is eventually set to grow into a full time job. At that time she will receive benefits and be able to focus all of her professional employment in one place. For now she is balancing two jobs, as well as caring for her mother.
She took the job, but the transition has not been easy. Her mother, diagnosed with Alzheimer's just before Danaë’s father died 5 years ago, now needs full time care and supervision. It has become impossible for Danaë to leave her mother at home alone while at work. Danaë needs help while she formulates a long term plan for her mother’s care.
Since her retirement as a professional dancer with Richmond Ballet, Danaë has worked up to 4 jobs at a time, bouncing around rental homes in Richmond, struggling to find affordable housing for her and her mother. She is completely alone in caring for her Mother. Sometimes, simply keeping the lights on is difficult.
Danaë is deeply devoted to her Mother. Danaë is also deeply devoted to serving Richmond's at risk youth through art and dance.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP.
"I need financial help with my Mother until I can generate enough income from my new job to care for her on my own, and as I formulate a long term plan for her care"
Visiting Angels will be providing home care. A friend of Danaë's has given enough money to temporarily provide one day a week care, for four hours at a time, on Danaë's longest day of work. Much more is needed.
