Help The Lukafuba Family

After Daudis Burial, Daudis family (her in-laws) started treating her in very pronounced ways that simply communicated that she was no longer wanted in that family- it got to a point when she could no longer bear the pressure of the mistreatments she was experiencing from her in-laws. She called her biological parents to help settle the differences out but this proved impossible after the two families tried meetings aimed at peaceful resolution without Success. When things could not be settled the situation forced Grace to request for permission to return to her parents’ home- a request which the in laws warmly welcomed as long as she left everything behind- including leaving behind Gift

After the two families’ discussions Daudis parents were like- Grace was free to go back to her Biological parents as long as she left everything behind except her own clothing only. They were very strong on Grace living behind Gift. It was very tearful for Grace but it was like there was nothing she or her biological parents could do about it. We involved the Church leadership in Geita (Where Daudis parents live) at least to allow Grace to go with Gift as she was still very young and needing her mother’s love- this request was strongly rejected by Daudis parents and until today, they don’t seem willing to change their stand on this

Grace is currently living with her parents and just helping them with her day today chores as peasants in Sengerema (Geita) . There is nothing much she is doing. This month she requested for permission from Daudis parents to go and say hallo to Gift- unfortunately on her way home from seeing Gift , she was involved in a road accident in the company of her two other friends, they were hurt and are still recovering from the accident.

Gift is living with her grandparents (Daudis parents) since June but she often cries for her mother Grace a request which is hard to fulfil given Daudis parents standing on the issue. Even though the church leadership has tried talking to Daudis parents about releasing Gift to Grace until she is slightly grown up- all the attempts have not been successful

Grace came to Musoma last month and I had a long discussion with her on this. She feels that she needs to return to Musoma and continue with her embroidery and tailoring work as a way of occupying her-self instead of living idly back at her parents’ home. She feels that she has the skills, the knowledge and a good portfolio of clients whom she had created before leaving Musoma. She however doesn’t have the capital to make this happen at take-off.

If you've ever met Daudi, you've probably become great friends with him.  Daudi's infectious smile, his quick wit, and joy for life sucks people in.  Daudi works with the African Inland Church and has been helping mission teams from the U.S. for years.  Daudi married the love of his life, Grace, almost a year ago, and they are expecting their first child later this year!

On their wedding day, Daudi could barely walk or stand. A few months later, he found out he had thyroid cancer that had affected his spine.  They did two surgeries to remove the cancer from his spine, then they had plans to do radiation later to continue to treat the cancer.  It was doubtful that Daudi would ever walk again, but through many prayers and God's healing hand, Daudi was not only able to walk, but the next time they did the cancer scan, it was all completely gone--no need for radiation!

In the several months since the first round of cancer, Daudi has been telling everyone he can about God's healing miracle in his life.  His story has brought people to know the Lord.

While God is no less good today than he was 6 months ago, today Daudi has cancer again.  The thyroid cancer is back, and it is again in his spine.  He is back in a hospital in Kenya--alone.  His wife Grace is pregnant & cannot travel that far.  They have no money to bring his dad or other friends up to the hospital to support him.  His days are spent by himself, with ample time to think about the "what if's."

They will not treat Daudi until he has sufficient funds.  He is in the hospital, but the radiation will not begin until March 25--and that's only if the hospital receives the money.  Please join us in supporting Daudi financially as he goes through this battle yet again.  Help us pay for his radiation treatment and hospital stay.  Help us pay to bring at least one family member to the hospital so he does not have to fight alone.

In addition to funds, Daudi needs your prayers.  God is the only one who can heal him, though He has provided knowledgable doctors and staff to help in the process.  Pray for complete healing & restoration for Daudi.  Pray for Grace as she is hundreds of miles away from her husband, wondering what each day may hold.  We know that God can do a miracle again, and we believe that he will.

God is good.  All the time.
