Sophie's Choice - Hope, Not Lupus

With great sadness, we inform you of the death of our beloved daughter, sister, niece, grand-daughter, cousin, and friend, Sophia Alfonso on April 3, 2018. 

After many heroic life-saving medical procedures attempted at Asian Hospital in Manila, Philippines, Sophie succumbed to complications brought on by lupus.

The family would like to thank all of those following her here for their support and prayers.

We continue to ask for any donation you feel comfortable providing in her memory.  All the funds will be used towards the hospitalization and medical expenses.

My niece, Sophia Alfonso, has just completed a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of the Philippines at Los Banos when she started suffering symptons of Lupus, an auto-immune disease.  For a 26-year old intelligent  young woman anxious to do wonderful work, she is instead battling this awful disease.  She is now in the ICU at the Asian Hospital in Manila Philippines undergoing kidney dialysis, blood transfusions, and treatment for kidney nehpritis.  According to her parents, she is so brave and a fighter!  Her parents Gordy and Ollie  (aka Mr & Mrs Noel Alfonso), are the most resilient and loving parents so very hopeful, faithful, and optimistic for Sophie's progress.
The medical costs are mounting fast so her family in the US are  raising money to cover the hospital stays, ICU costs, her doctors, and other medical expenses.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
We will keep everyone posted with Sophie's continuous progress as well as set backs.
