On April the 3rd we heard the words that turned our world upside down "Dexter has a tumour and we need to refer you to the Cancer specialists at Southampton"

Since then we have been on a non stop roller coaster of information, hospital trips/stays, research and desperately trying to support him and the family as much as we could.

We decided as a family after the first few days of trying to understand 'Why him' and the momentous challenge  that laid before us that we needed to focus all our energy on being positive and do everything within our power to give him the best possible chance of winning his fight!

We have 3 main goals we remind ourselves everyday

1) The end goal (Part 1): Dexter rings that end of treatment bell on Piam Brown ward everything in between is a temporary painful journey we must overcome step by step, one day at a time.

2) When you are forced to look down the barrel of a gun it's incredible how all of a sudden everything you value in life is all that really matters and you have a heightened appreciation for all the little things that mean the world.

3) We want to make a small positive difference to everyone else going through their own battles and we believe the best way to do this is to raise some much needed funds for the two wards that have given Dexter amazing care so far at Howard Ward and Piam Brown.

End goal (part 2) :Dexter will deliver in person as many items/toys as possible to both wards for their toy rooms for other families to use as our way of saying thank you to every Nurse, Doctor, Oncologist, Play specialist, Receptionist , Dinner lady the list goes on, we have been blown away by everyone.

Dexter is completing round 3 of 5 Chemo tomorrow April 26th in preparation for his big Operation on May 16th (Provisionally  booked)  to remove the tumour and effected kidney, He has been our little HERO with a HUGE heart  showing such resilience, courage and sheer determination since his diagnosis and we could not be prouder of him.

So we are starting a family run campaign and we would love for you to join us in a #Dash4Dexter on the week of his operation, as I said earlier being positive has got us this far and all of us are taking regular time out to do some kind of Dash with a  Run/Walk/Cycle/Swim to clear our minds and refocus our thoughts and has been a key part of getting us this far!

You can do anything active, send positive thoughts, post a picture and the logo with the #Dash4Dexter and if you are feeling generous make a small donation so we can make that end goal part 2 a reality, we are keeping a journal for Dexter so we can show him how much love and support he received and the absolute dream would be for us to buy the complete wishlists- What a picture for the journal that would be and what a way to sign off and show him how he turned something so life changing into a positive.

Fittingly the week of Dexter's operation is Mental Health Awareness Week.

This will be the start of many #Dash4Dexter events including:
