Das Heiligtum des Jerusalemer Tempels wurde erhellt durch die Menora, den siebenarmigen Leuchter aus reinem Gold.
Nach der Zerstörung des Tempels im Jahr 70 wurde sie von den Römern als Beute nach Rom verschleppt - eine Szene, die bis heute im Titusbogen zu sehen ist. Der Triumph der Römer bahnte den Weg für den Triumph der Kirche. Rom sollte nun zur "ewigen Stadt", zum "neuen Jerusalem" werden, und die Kirche zum "wahren Israel". Aller Verheißungen beraubt, galt dem enterbten jüdischen Volk nur noch der Fluch. Pogrome und Verfolgungen durchzogen daraufhin alle Jahrhunderte. Als keiner damit gerechnet hatte, fiel 1948 Gottes Licht in die dunkelste Stunde des jüdischen Volkes und die Menora fand ihren Platz im Staatswappen Israels. 2019 - im 70. Jahr der Staatsgründung Israels - wollen wir eine kostbare Nachbildung des damals erbeuteten Leuchters zurück nach Jerusalem bringen. Als eine Gruppe junger Christen begleiten wir die Menora auf ihrem Weg von Rom in Gottes ewige Stadt Jerusalem, um sie im Zusammenhang mit dem jüdischen Staatstrauertag Yom HaShoah und dem israelischen Unabhängigkeitstag Yom HaAtzmaut dem jüdischen Volk zu überbringen.
Die Nationen haben das Licht der Nationen "Jesus von Nazareth, den König der Juden" durch Israel empfangen. Mit der Rückführung des Leuchters soll unser Dank und unsere Liebe zum jüdischen Volk, gemeinsam mit der Bitte um Vergebung, zum Ausdruck gebracht werden. Ein Zeichen, das vielleicht lauter redet und mehr bedeutet als viele Worte.

The sanctuary of the Temple of Jerusalem was illuminated by the Menorah, the seven-branched candelabrum of pure gold.
After the destruction of the Second Temple in the year 70 AD, it was abducted by the Romans as plunder to Rome. The Arch of Titus reminds us of what happened to the Menorah.
The triumph of the Romans paved the way for the triumph of the Church. Rome should become the "eternal city," the "new Jerusalem," and the Church considered itself as the "true Israel." Deprived of all promises, only the curse was remained valid to the disinherited Jewish people. Pogroms and persecutions pervaded all centuries. When no one expected it, God's light shone in the darkest hour of Jewish history, and since 1948 the Menorah is depicted on the state emblem of Israel. In 2019 - the 70th year of the founding of the state of Israel - we want to bring a precious replica of the Menorah that was stolen in the past, back to Jerusalem. As a group of young Christians, we accompany the Menorah on its way from Rome to the Eternal City Jerusalem in order to deliver it to the Jewish people. This will take place in connection with the Holocaust Remembrance Day - Yom HaShoah - and the Israeli Independence Day - Yom HaAtzmaut.
The nations of the world have received Jesus of Nazareth, who is the Light of the Nations and King of the Jews through the nation of Israel. With the return of the candelabrum we’d like to express our appreciation and our love for the Jewish people together with the request for forgiveness. A sign that perhaps speaks louder and means more than many words.
Then you will see and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with delight;
for the riches of the seas will be brought to you,
the wealth of nations will come to you.

Transparency hint: We are a group of young Christians from all over Germany! Some of us are working for the organization Christians for Israel who where open to support our project. The funds will 100% be used for the project (building the menora, transportation, logistics, events, etc.).
