This is the story of a beautiful soul who has gave so much but asked so little, now we need to help Darlene Matusky with her medicals bills and send her on a trip somewhere memorable.
Cancer has touched her in so many ways the last few years, she was near and dear to our youngest sister battling two bouts of leukemia and sadly losing her battle in September of 2016. This past spring Darlene was diagnosed with cancer and is now undergoing Chemotherapy.
Now for a bit of a bio on Dars life.
It was a hot steamy night June 30, 1963. Two quirky young souls fell asleep and the next day a seed was planted. On March 29, 1964 a sweet little girl came into our lives AKA Miss Darlene Gerard.
She was the second born and soon enough was part of a 6 sibling family.
Her adventures in life included the biggest and most prosperous at an early age.....She snagged a young studly fellow.
Darlene and Andy began their journey of marriage and continue to live their lives in Clearwater BC.
They brought 4 great little people into the world to help spend Andy and Darlenes hard earned money.
A heartfelt description through the eyes of a loved one.
"She is the best hugger in the world. If you ever needed a pick me up, she can wrap her arms around you and make you feel like you're in a safe and happy place. Even in the last few months of receiveing terrible news to aweful news, as soon as I got to hug her I felt comforted, even when it should have been me providing comfort to her.
Despite all that she is going through personally, she has such care and determiniation to continue to care for everyone around her, when really it's time for her to be cared for. While she was breaking the news to me she still had so much concern for her children and wanted to ensure that us children know that there are avenues of help availabe to us. It was not necessary for her to be concerned about this, but that's just who she is. A person so full of concern for others.
She is one of the most giving persons around, if you were ever in need, she would gladly help you out. If you called her and needed help, a shoulder to cry on, or a hug, she would drop what she was doing to help you.
She always ensures that everyone experiences the holidays in the best possible way and provides the MAGIC of the holidays to those that need it. Whether it's a thoughful gift, or a truly fun, delicious and enjoyable meal, she would never allow you to miss out on the magic of the holidays.
Through the years of running the hostel she has made many new friends and built some phenomenal bonds. She could never put aside her momness (AKA Momma D) with these "young strangers", becoming a part of their extended family. She's interacts with so many people and has provided some great experiences for these people that they will never forget".
