Darrin's Welding Equipment Fund

On March first, 2018, I will be moving back to my hometown of Pullman, Washington and starting a local contracting company that will specialize in welding. Referred to by many as "God's Country," Pullman is located in the scenic Palouse region in the Eastern portion of Washington, near the Idaho border. It is a place of rolling hills where farmers produce wheat and lentils,  and raise livestock. It is also the home of Washington State University, and the nationally ranked WSU Cougar football team, which most recently appeared in the Holiday Bowl.

Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for metalworking. In high school, I used all of my electives to take four years of metalshop. More recently, I worked for the Electric Boat corporation, which produces nuclear submarines for the U.S. Navy, and during my time there, I was able to develop my welding skills to a point where I can complete any welding job and have it pass a series of stringent inspections. A recent study by the pentagon named these vessels as the single most important asset in our defensive arsenal.

While I'm extremely proud of the time spent working on these great vessels for our military, the time has come to move on and apply those skills serving the local needs for the community that has always been my home. This means that I need to be able to take on smaller assorted jobs that I can do from my own shop, as well as repair farm machinery on-site. For this, I need to set up a company, and acquire an extensive list of personal welding equipment.

Specifically, the most costly piece of equipment I am wanting to raise money for is the Lincoln Electric Powermig 210 MP. This machine retails for $1310.95. In addition to that, I will need a number of other supplies, including a welding hood, grinders of various sizes, a shed, a metal worktable, and various other odds and ends. I will also need to set up the company itself, which requires a General Contractor license for the State of Washington, as well as liability insurance.

I am hoping to have this set up for Spring, 2018, which is the start of the main growing season so I can offer service to the farmers in the area.

Your help with this would give me the essential startup capital needed so I can focus on the most important part of any contracting business: establishing relationships and delivering top quality service at a competetive price.

I would be extremely grateful for any support you can offer. It would give me the tools I need to grow my own business, which will allow me to not simply meet the needs of my family, but also utilize my hard-earned skills that have taken a lifetime to develop, and provide a necessary service to the comunity.
